Online Poker Pitfalls
There is a reason that online poker is the most explosive growth
industry in online gambling, if not all of online commerce. In
fact there are many outstanding reasons for the meteoric growth
of online poker. Among them would be convenience, accessibility,
choice, and the intrigue of the games themselves.
Whether it be limit or no limit Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, or the
many new innovative spin offs of those games, online poker is
an undeniable worldwide craze. Online poker is now played by seasoned
professionals that have been at the final table of events at the
World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour. Beyond that many
professionals will attest to actually preferring the online version
of the game. But that being said those same pros will also tell
you that there are differences playing online compared to in person
and potential pitfalls with those differences.
Online poker tells are different from the in person table. There
are no eyes, jitters, or trembles to read nor are there raised
or hushed voices. There is a feel to online poker that must be
developed in order to read tells. This is a different type of
poker instinct that takes time to develop when new to the online
game.
Another big dynamic of online poker is the faster pace. Many
new players to online poker, even those with plenty of face-to-face
experience, have hard time adjusting at the start because of that
quicker pace. This means that better preparation, understanding,
and study are needed to be successful when playing poker online.
Online poker has opened the door to millions with opportunities
to play that were never dreamed of before but beware of those
pitfalls when at the table.
