Online Poker
While there are countless strategy guides that can be found for
how to play any form of online poker as well as how to handle
and judge any hand or position there are very few guides for what
makes for good online poker etiquette, which can often turn into
a very important factor in a player’s overall success and reputation.
Good manners and being polite is a key part of being successful
at online poker, just as it is for being at an in person table.
Online poker, like other internet endeavors, can sometimes come
off as cold and impersonal and it’s important to act as if you
are among potential friends as it will not only help you come
off well but it will also put you at ease where you can focus
on the action.
Be sure and pay attention and be alert when you are taking part
in online poker. This is an increasing problem for many online
card players as they tend to be playing several hands at the same
time and get distracted, which is irritating to the players at
the table where the delays are taking place.
Play as quickly as possible. While it is of course important
to make the correct decision it is also important to be considerate
and not take up too much time. This is where experience at low
limit games, inexpensive tournaments, or playing at the free tables
can be invaluable as far as learning to make quick decisions.
Finally, be a good sport, be humble when you win and don’t take
your anger and frustration out on anyone when you lose. Don‘t
criticize others and stay in good cheer. This is another way you
can help yourself as much as the ambience of your online poker
table.
