New Era of Poker

Poker has always been one of the world's most popular games and certainly has a history that is hard to rival for any game of chance, let alone card games. Yet until online casino gambling developed poker was also a niche type of game played by a limited amount of highly passionate and dedicated groups. That has now completely changed thanks to online gambling and online card rooms.

Poker has now gone from that niche game into a world wide craze as it is now played online in every corner of the globe. This has also served to change the very strategy and culture of the game because of all of this new blood that is now involved. Poker used to have a very limited amount of basic strategy that was universally bought and sold as gospel. But the advent of online poker and all of the new players that have now taken up the game has changed all of that.

In this new era of poker that is dominated by online play veterans will tell you that it is far more aggressive and personality driven. They would also say that there is far more psychological warfare going on at poker tables with a lot more bluffing and intimidation than in the past. Poker used to be something of a gentleman's game but that is no longer the case.

Yet as you enter an online poker room, keep in mind that the laws of nature and mathematics will never change. Odds are odds and all of the bluster in the world won't improve one's mathematical chances.
