Five Card Draw Poker Strategy
Are you ready to go old school
today? I mean really old school? A game that you rarely see spread
anymore inside a casino, but is still found in home games and
even online is Five Card Draw. When you start playing five card
draw you’ll no doubt commit some of the beginner mistakes. It
is important when playing any poker game that you limit your mistakes,
in order to limit your mistakes you must know what mistakes are
commonly made by beginning players. First you must be patient.
In five card draw you don’t get many options to make a good hand
and you need to be able to display patience to be successful.
Without patience in five card draw you’ll be throwing your money
away.
The object is simple; you try and make the best five-card poker
hand. You can discard one time and take up to five cards. For
those new to the game, you may notice that some people practically
know what you have based on your drawing habits. Let's take a
look at what many draws typically mean. Note that these standards
may not apply to a table full of expert draw players. However,
in most normal games, these will work just fine.
Try to avoid setting an image for yourself at the table, to do
this you need to keep switching up you playing style every so
often. Don’t always fold when you have nothing and don’t always
raise when you have a good hand. Try mixing things up with a couple
of bluff or slow plays to keep your opponents on their toes and
guessing which is much better then being a predictable five card
draw player.
